Verified checks

Show readers what an official register says about your centre

We check your facility licence and your physicians' registrations ourselves and add the ones that pass to your profile, each with what it covers, where we saw it and when. $295 a year per centre, the same flat fee for every centre.

The three checks

  1. Facility licence, checked on an official register. We look the licence up on the issuing authority's own public register. The line on your profile gives the register's address, the licence number, the issuing authority, the date we looked, and what the licence covers.
  2. Physician registration, checked on an official register. We look each named physician up on the official register for their country, for example Mexico's SEP Registro Nacional de Profesionistas (cedulaprofesional.sep.gob.mx). The line gives the name, the registration number and the profession the register shows, and the date.
  3. Document seen, where no public register exists. Where a licence or permit has no public register, we look at the document itself. The line says that we saw the document and could not confirm it with a register, who issued it, and when we saw it.

What a licence covers, and what it does not

Every line says what the licence or registration covers and what it does not, because a permit to run a clinic or a medical centre is not a permit to serve ayahuasca or ibogaine. Two examples of the wording:

  • "Ministry of Health sanitary permit as a medical centre. It does not authorise ayahuasca ceremonies."
  • "COFEPRIS operating notice for a clinic. Ibogaine is not an approved medicine in Mexico."

What we need from you

  • Your facility licence or permit number, the authority that issued it, and a link to the public register where it can be looked up.
  • Where there is no public register, a clear scan or photo of the licence or permit.
  • The full name and registration number of each physician you want checked (in Mexico, the cédula profesional number).

The rules

  • Only checks that pass are shown. A check that fails is simply not shown, and no negative entry is made.
  • Each check lapses 12 months after the date we made it and drops off your profile on its own. Renew to keep it.
  • The fee pays for the checks, not the outcome. It is charged whether or not a check passes, and it is not refunded when one fails.
  • The panel on your profile discloses the fee: "Centres pay a flat fee of $295 a year for these checks. The fee is charged whether or not a check passes, and it does not affect anything else on the profile."
  • A check is not an inspection, an endorsement or a safety rating. Your profile still says we have not inspected your centre.
  • It does not change your place in any list, your reviews, your public record, the safety notes or the legal-status information.
  • Oregon and Colorado licensed centres already show their state register details free of charge, and that stays as it is.
